The Last Sermon

  1. O People
  2. Lend me an attentive ear,
  3. for I know not whetherafter this year, I shall ever be amongst you again.
  4. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully
  5. and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
  1. Ya ku mutane
  2. Ku ba ni hankalinku,
  3. domin mai yiwuwa ba zan sake kasancewa da ku bayan wannan shekarar ba,
  4. Saboda haka ku saurari abinda nake gaya maku da kyau
  5. kuma (ku isar da abinda zan gaya maku) ga wadanda ba su a wannan wuri a yau.
  1. O People
  2. Just as you regard this month,
  3. this day,
  4. this city as sacred,
  5. so regard the life
  6. and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust.
  7. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners.
  8. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you.
  9. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.
  10. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest);
  11. therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived.
  12. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn ‘Abd al Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived.
  13. Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion.
  14. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things,
  15. so beware of following him in small things.

  2. kamar yadda ku ka riki wannan wata, (na Hajji)
  3. da wannan rana (ta Arfa)
  4. da kuma wannan gari (na Makka) da girma kuma abin tsarewa,
  5. to, haka kuma ku riki ran Musulmi
  6. da kuma dukiyoyinsu da girma abin kuma karewa.
  7. Ku maida wa mutane kayan da suka ba ku amana.
  8. Kar ku cuci kowa, saboda kar wasu su cuce ku.
  9. Ku tuna fa, hakika Allah zai yi sakayya akan ayukakanku.

  10. Allah (SWT) ya hana cin riba,(wato kudin ruwa)
  11. saboda haka, duk abin da aka kulla ta kudin ruwa sai an warware shi.

  13. Ku yi hattara da shaidan, domin kiyaye addininku.
  14. Yanzu kan ya fidda ran batar da ku akan manyan abubuwa (na sabo)
  15. saboda haka ku guji binshi akan kanana.
  1. O People
  2. It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women,
  3. but they also have rights over you.
  4. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right
  5. then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness.
  6. Do treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers.
  7. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

  3. amma su ma suna da hakki bisa kanku,

  5. to hakkin su ne akan ku da kuciyar da su, Kuma ku tufatar da su akan jin kai.
  6. ku bi da su kyakkyawan biyarwa. Ku kuma tausasa musu domin su majibintan al'amurran ku ne, kuma mataimakan ku,
  7. Hakki ne akan su da kar su yi abota da duk wanda ba ku so, kuma su nisanci zina.

  3. worship Allah,
  4. say your five daily prayers (Salah),
  5. fast during the month of Ramadan,
  6. and give your wealth in Zakat.
