# Somali President Hassan Sheik Mohamud on Weds (15 June) appointed Hamza Abdi Barre as the country's PM. President Hassan announced appointment at a press conference in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
# UN Refugee Agency has revealed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict had caused the fastest and one of the largest forced displacement crises in the world, pushing the figure of displaced people in the world to the dramatic milestone of 100 million.
# Spokesperson for the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Behrouz Kamalvandi on Weds June 15th warned Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi to refrain from complicating Iran's nuclear situation through political statements. Mr Kamalvandi's warning came followed a call on Iran by the IAEA chief to resume talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear agreement before things get "more problematic".
# Iran and Russia have stressed the need for implementing all agreements made during the course of Astana talks on Syria, including those calling for the protection of the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Iranian delegation to the 8th round of Astana talks, which were headed by the senior aide to Iranian foreign minister, Ali-Asghar Khaji, made this position known at the meeting.
# Nigerian government has approved 964m naira for the provision of 109 satellite-based education system equipment in each of the 36 states of the county and country's capital, Abuja. Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed revealed this at the end of a weekly executive council meeting in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
# Russia has summoned Alexander Ben Zvi, Israeli ambassador to the country, to express concern over recent airstrikes against Damascus International Airport in Syria. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the summons in a statement it issued on Weds June 15th after Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with Alexander Ben Zvi.
# Candidates in the government by-election in Nigeria's southern state of Ekiti on Weds June 16 signed a peace accord ahead of the poll scheduled to be held on Saturday June 18. Local tv station, ChannelsTV, reported that the candidates signed the peace accord at an event held in Ado-Ekiti under the auspices of the National Peace Committee (NPC).
# Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has said a recent resolution approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Iran, was a US plot to force Iran to make concessions at the Vienna talks. Mr Abdollahian made the remarks during a phone conversation with Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussain on Thursday June 16.
# The government of the DRC on Thurs June 16 announced it had suspended all treaties with its East African neighbor, Rwanda. The DRC also urged Rwanda to immediately withdraw all it troops from Congolese soil.
# Mali announced plans to begin withdrawing troops from the G5 Sahel alliance. Malian army chief General Oumar Diarra ordered the withdrawal Tue June 14 in a leaked memo.
# The African Continental Free Trade Area on Tuesday June 14 said it would promote the use of local currencies in order to boost trade among African countries.
