# Reports from Guinea indicate that at least 2 people died during anti-military junta protests in the country. Several other people were reported to have suffered injuries during the demonstrations held on Weds Aug 17 mobilized by civil society organizations and a coalition of opposition parties.
# Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said the decision by Turkey to restore full diplomatic relations with Israel after a decade of tensions did not mean that Turkey would abandon its support for Palestinians. The 2 countries restored full diplomatic ties on Weds Aug 17.
# A court of appeal in Nigerian northwestern State of Kano on Weds Aug 17 affirmed the judgement of a high court in the state that ordered a retrial of blasphemy case against Kano singer Aminu Yahaya Sharif, who was sentenced to death for committing derogatory remarks against the personality of Prophet Muhammad [[SAW]].
# Iranian intelligence forces announced the arrest of one of the oldest and most dangerous terrorists with the scope of cross-border terrorist operations. The arrested criminal had a background of terrorist activities in several regional countries at the height of Syrian crisis. The intelligence forces did not mention the name of the captured terrorist nor did they disclose where he was arrested.
# Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has donated $156,000m USD as contribution to the rebuilding of the Abu Sefein Church where a fire broke out last Sunday Aug 14 and killed many people and injured scores of others.
# Families of the children killed by Israel near Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip have called for Israel to face charges at the International Criminal Court for the atrocities committed against innocent civilians, including children, in the occupied Gaza Strip.
# Mali has written to the UN Security Council, accusing France of violating its airspace and delivering weapons to armed groups. This comes as the last batch of French troops completed their withdrawal from Mali.
