# The capital of Ethiopian Tigray region was hit by an airstrike on 29th of August, according to the Tigray rebels. In a tweet, Tigray People's Liberation Front spokesperson Getachew Reda confirmed the drone airstrike.
# Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet president, who ended the cold war without bloodshed but failed to prevent the collapse of the Soviet Union, died on 29 August in the Russian capital Moscow, at the age of 91.
# Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is set to visit Moscow to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine. The visit comes after a number of Western countries requested Iran to play an active role in the resolution of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
