Mohannad Hakeem
Our topic for this week's Dose of the Quran was: Awkward Family Situation. We started with a question from one of our participants, and it turned into a fully fledged discussion, and alhamdulillah, we always found answers in the Quran! Question was: "What should we do to mend any broken relationship if the other person isn't willing to make it work?" A summary of the answer(s) given and the discussions 1- PROCESS not PRODUCT: Results are in the hands of Allah, and our submission to Him is manifested by following the process and not stressing / expecting the results. In the context of the question: People may refuse our attempts to keep ties of kinship. As long as these attempts are sincere, we will be rewarded based on these efforts inshaAllah. 2- Even the prophets of Allah had these "awkward family moments", some more than others. Prophet Muhammad PBUH had a personal issue that ended up being publicized in the Quran. Can we consider that family dispute a "BIG DEAL", of course not, but we all can learn from it. 3- Other prophets had bigger family problems, and it was part of their test in lives. (Hint: we are all tested in multiple ways). Prophet Noah and Prophet Lut were the examples given in this Surah. As believers this shall not cause us to become hopeless or complacent, but on the contrary to confirm our submission to Allah by embracing the PROCESS, while making duaa that we get the PRODUCT that we desire, inshaAllah Link to the recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Uag4JTO2JA (8th min) Also, How would you handle / advise on the "Awkward family relations" dilemma? #QuranWeeklyDose
