"I Love You So Much!" We say that a lot. But if we're [1] honest [2]? It's usually pretty self-centered. We love people because of how they make us feel. Because they do things for us. Because they say nice things to us. Because they give things to us. It's not really about them. It's still about us. That's not true love, it's egotistical love. The Prophet Muhammad flipped that whole idea on its head. He told us that Allah said: "My love is guaranteed for those who love each other for My sake, who sit together for My sake, who visit each other for My sake, and who give to one another for My sake." We experience Divine love when our love for each other isn't about us, but about Him.

“No one truly accompanies you except the One who stays with you while knowing your flaws—and that is none other than your Generous Master. The best companion is the One who seeks you for your own sake, not for something that may return to Him from you.” [135]
